About

We strongly believe that all people have the ability to make lasting change in their lives given the right support. This belief propels us in our work of helping our clients transform their lives.
At Lifeskills South Florida, our compassionate staff believes in treating all clients with respect and care. Using evidence-based modalities, we guide clients to recovery using their intrinsic ability for self-healing. We are committed to innovation and craft customized treatment plans for each client that comes through our doors.
What We Treat
At our South Florida behavioral health center, we treat the full spectrum of mental health disorders, including the following:
- Anxiety disorders
- Bipolar Disorder
- Depressive disorder
- Thought disorder
- Substance use disorder
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Borderline Personality Disorder
- Video Game and Technology Addiction
- Process Addiction
While we can effectively treat clients with a sole mental health disorder diagnosis, our expertise lies in those with co-occurring mental illnesses and addictions. This dual diagnosis approach is the best way to help those with substance use disorders, as most people that abuse drugs or alcohol also have a mental illness. For this reason, our treatment program gives each disorder specific attention to heal the whole person.
How We Treat
We use a three-pronged plan to treatment at Lifeskills South Florida. This broad approach allows clients to address their issues and build skills that lead to healing and recovery.
Evidence-Based Modalities
The staff at our South Florida behavioral health center use five clinical pathways to treat mental illnesses and substance use disorders. These include the following:
- Dialectical behavioral therapy
- Cognitive behavioral therapy
- Gender-specific trauma therapy
- Substance use disorder therapy
- Cognitive remediation
Our treatment professionals incorporate these methodologies into individual and group counseling as well as family therapy sessions.
Integrated Primary Care
Lifeskills South Florida makes sure to incorporate physical wellness into our treatment plans. In addition to 24/7 nursing oversight, clients have access to yoga classes, mindfulness training, weekly sessions with a dietitian and nutritionist, fitness classes led by a personal trainer, and a gym membership.
Vocational Skills Training
Clients build skills like cleanliness, budgeting, meal planning, and grocery shopping during their time in treatment. They also receive vocational guidance to help plan for life in recovery.
Levels of Care
The continuum of care at Lifeskills South Florida includes residential treatment, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient, as well as transitional living. Clients move through these programs as they progress toward recovery.
Starting in residential treatment, the staff schedules almost every part of the day. In this highly-structured environment, clients work hard to address their issues and form healthier habits.
Once they make sufficient progress, they gain more independence in the partial hospitalization program, and eventually the intensive outpatient program. These programs allow clients the opportunity to use the skills they gained in treatment outside the structure of the facility, either at home or in transitional living.
Our transitional living location, Osceola House, features a convenient location close to our main facility. It offers gender-specific housing as well as access to care around the clock. There, clients learn to live independently while incorporating aspects of their personal lives. Clients may return to school or work while in transitional living to make the shift from treatment to real life easier. How long clients remain at Osceola House is flexible, and depends on their needs.

Insurance Providers
Lifeskills is a private-pay facility that can work with out-of-network benefits. The cost of treatment depends on the length of stay and the level of care. We generally recommend a minimum of 60-90 days of treatment, with most clients beginning at the residential level of care. As insurance plans vary, most clients will use a combination of private pay and insurance benefits to cover their costs.
Prior to treatment, we help each client determine the out-of-pocket costs needed to cover the anticipated length of stay and help them determine their out-of-network benefits.
We are proud to support our nation’s veterans as a community care network provider within Optum (NPI: 1891122396).
Please note we do not accept Medicare or Medicaid.
